what is Leukemia?
Leukemia is a type of blood cancer where the bone marrow makes abnormal blood cells instead of normal blood cells. These abnormal blood cells grow out of control and prevent blood from performing many of its functions, like fighting off infections or preventing serious bleeding
Risk factors
- Advanced age
- Long-term exposure to radiation
- Smoking
- A family history of leukemia
- Certain blood disorders, like polycythemia vera
- Certain congenital syndromes, like Down syndrome and Fanconi anemia
Types of leukemia
- Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL)
- Acute myeloid leukemia (AML)
- Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
- Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML)
Symptoms
- Fever
- Fatigue, weakness
- Loss of appetite
- Weight loss
- Night sweats
- Frequent infections
- Easy bruising or bleeding
Diagnosis
- Complete blood count, with differential
- Peripheral blood smear
- Bone marrow biopsy

what is Lymphoma?
Lymphoma is cancer that develops from lymphocytes, which are a group of white blood cells. These white blood cells become abnormal and grow out of control causing the lymph nodes to swell.
